HL Klemove Plans to Build an Integral Control Unit
for Autonomously Driving Vehicles in Hand with Intel and Nvidia
HL Klemove decided to cooperate with Intel, Qualcomm and Nvidia to develop Level 3 ‘high-function autonomous driving control unit’. According to experts from the automobile industry and stock exchanges on December 19th, HL KLemove will be collaborating with Intel, Qualcomm, Nvidia and TI to launch its Level 3 autonomous driving control unit (ADCU) next year.
ADCU is an integration of electronic control units (ECU) related to autonomous driving. Automobiles currently sold in the market are equipped with multiple ECUs, sometimes several dozens at a time. ADCU integrating ECUs related to autonomous driving serves as the brain for autonomously driving vehicles. When radar, lidar, and cameras detect information, ADCU searches for routes and decides on whether it will accelerate or decelerate.
The Level 3 autonomous driving ADCU developed by HL Klemove will enable autonomous driving one step further developed compared to automobiles current sold in the market. If ADAS in Level 2 autonomous driving is capable of aiding drivers, drivers’ roles are limited to aiding the autonomous driving system in case of emergencies. Since HL Klemove has been supplying ADCU for Genesis GV80, it is highly likely that domestic complete cars will be equipped with Level 3 autonomous driving ADCU.
