Science and Technology Medal Awarded to VP Kang Hyung-jin of Mando Subsidiary HL Klemove
Kang Hyung-jin, CTO and Vice President of HL Klemove, an autonomous driving solution provider, was awarded the Science and Technology Medal from the government for his R&D achievements.
On April 22, the Ministry of Science and ICT announced it was cohosting, with the Korea Communications Commission and others, a ceremony at the Korea Science and Technology Center to mark both Science Day (April 21) and ICT Day (April 22). During the event government awards were presented to 162 people of merit.
The ceremony was attended by key figures in science and technology circles, including Prime Minister Kim Boo-kyum, Science and ICT Minister Lim Hye-sook, KCC Commissioner Kim Hyun, Science and Technology Advisor at the Blue House Park Su-kyung, Korean Federation of Science and Technology Societies President Lee Woo Il, and Korea Federation of ICT Organizations President Roh Joon-hyung.
Han Jong-hee, Co-Vice Chairman/Co-CEO of Samsung Electronics, received the Science and Technology Changjo Medal for his contribution to the advancement of Korea’s display industry. In the national R&D performance evaluation category, the Ungbi Medal went to Hanyang University Professor Sun Yang-kook for his successes in raising national competitiveness in rechargeable batteries. Meanwhile, the Doyak Medal went to Woo Eui-jeon, a principal investigator of the Korea Research Institute of Bioscience and Biotechnology, who revealed the function of a protein that detects harmful factors in the environment. Seoul National University Professor Yoon Sung-roh, who helped lay the groundwork for the Fourth Industrial Revolution in Korea, was awarded the Yellow Stripes Service Medal in the ICT development category.
HL Klemove VP Kang was honored with the Science and Technology Medal in recognition of his research contributions in the autonomous driving sector.
Minister Lim said, “My heartfelt congratulations to all the merit and honor recipients and your commitment to improving science, technology, and ICT in Korea despite the challenges amid the great transition. The Korean government will continue to provide solid support so that the nation can fully leverage its competencies in science, technology, and ICT to emerge as one of the global leaders, while at the same time playing a key role in resolving issues closely related to people’s lives, such as climate change and infectious diseases.”
HL Klemove, a subsidiary of Mando, develops automobile sensors, hardware and software core technologies that perform perception, decision and control functions.
